Neuropsychological Evaluations

Neuropsychology is the study of the relationship between brain function and behavior.

Neuropsychological evaluations are conducted for individuals who have sustained head injury, children who are not achieving appropriate developmental milestones, and individuals who demonstrate subtle or severe difficulty with learning, attention, social interaction, or a combination of these problems.  Oftentimes, it is recommended that individuals with a suspected autism spectrum disorder undergo a neuropsychological evaluation.

Testing includes a thorough assessment of cognitive ability, language, visual processing, reasoning, memory, graphomotor or handwriting skills, speed of information processing, attention, and executive functioning.

Academic skills in the areas of reading, mathematics, and written language are assessed.

An in-depth evaluation of social, emotional, and behavioral adjustment is included.

A personality profile and assessment of adaptive behavior may also be part of this evaluation.
